New project: “Love Comes Quickly” is a deeply personal thing for me. The original song by the Pet Shop Boys was released in 1986, and from the very first listen, it captured my heart. Although the track was a commercial disappointment for the band, it resonated with me on an emotional level like no other, with its beautiful melody and that unmistakable Chris Lowe bassline.
Reinterpreting this song was, therefore, a labour of love. To bring it to life, I used the Universal Audio plugin “Opal” for the first bassline, and for the second, I turned to the Synthesizer Expander Module from Cherry Audio. The lush strings are courtesy of Spitfire Audio and the BBC Symphony Orchestra, while the choir sounds were created using the Arturia Solina. The brass instruments also come from Spitfire Audio, adding a rich, cinematic layer to the track. As for the vocals, they are my own, with some assistance from the Arturia Vocoder to achieve the desired effect.
And that’s it. I’m still uncertain about how I feel listening to my own voice in such an emotional piece. It’s never easy to hear yourself in something so close to your heart.
Release only on Bandcamp and Soundcloud.
